Features of iOS 5 – The split keyboard

Blogsy Post
Getting into using iOS 5 on the iPad, what is the new operating system for iDevices really like? Well as you would expect it not such a radical change that you have to relearn everything from scratch. Yet at the same time you want something sexy and new that gives you facilities that to make the tasks you want to do at least ten times easier.

I tried out the split keyboard and found that for the most part I prefer the keyboard as it was before. It could be really useful if you need to see more of the screen while you are typing. What I found was that the keys just became too small. That could be something more to do with me needing to put the glasses on to help the eyes function that bit better.

Gain access to your files with FileBrowser iPad

IPad FileBrowser

What is the problem that FileBrowser for iPad solves?

It is going to happen that one day you are going to be away from your main computer and you really do need to see some of your files. Not only do you want to see the file but you want to open it up and edit it .You only have with you, your iPhone and your iPad, so how are you going to do it. There are a number of possibilities, there is iPad VPN (Virtual Private Network) as one way it could be done, or you save all your documents into Dropbox and you have Dropbox on your iPad or you could use some remote access software such as FileBrowser.

The Amazing iPad

FileBrowser for iPad gives you Windows Explorer on your iPad

If you are using the iPad app FileBrowser in some ways it is like having your Finder application, or Windows Explorer (if you’re a Windows geek), on your iPad or on your iPhone, how weird is that?. This FileBrowser iPad app will let you access network folders on Macs, Windows, Linux and your network attached storage drives, NAS.

All of the work with FileBrowser iPad is done from your iPad, rather than used sitting at your computer and uploading files to the iPad. The application lets you look at all of the document types that iOS will support. When you have the access to the files it will pass them on to the right apps and also take from other applications. What you could do for instance, is to take e-mail attachments and to have FileBrowser store them for using later, with the correct application for that file type.

One way of using this would be to stream music and your video files from your computer in your home office, directly to your iPad. You could do this and send them to your iPhone also if you wanted. If you have an NAS storage device, then you could access the files on it without having to turn on your computer. On the other hand AirVideo is a great app specially for that.

Find how to wave the rubber chicken at FileBrowser for iPad

FileBrowser for iPad, as with other applications of this type, can take a little bit of rubber chicken waving and the old voodoo magic in order to set up. According to customer reviews for the application, the customer service is good enough, that if you do have a little bit of a problem, they are more than happy to help you out and get you up and running.

On Safari iOS 5 Style Using the Reader and the Reading List

Doing a bit of sightseeing on Safari with iOS 5

When you’re using a computer or a number of computers, you have an iMac and a Mac mini and then you have an iPad too and maybe an iPhone, not only do you want your data in all of the places but you want to have a similar experience in each of these places too. This means that if you’re having tabbed browsing in your Safari or Chrome browser on your iMac, then you’re going to want to see tabbed browsing also on your iPad and other iOS devices. So in the update to iOS five you will be delighted to see in the Safari browser we now have tabbed browsing. I find quite often, I like to have more than one website open, and be able to quickly jump between those websites, so the tabbed browser is, I think essential.

The Amazing iPad

Reading List for iOS5 and iCloud

Another new feature is the reading list. This is where you can tap to save the page to read it later. It does seem a little like a bookmark, although in the reading list you do have two tabs one says all, and the other says unread. So you do have some extra facilities to be able to organise your reading list in Safari. The reading list isn’t the same as Safari bookmarks, because when you’re looking at your reading list drop-down, you will see at the top of the dialogue box, a button which will take you to your bookmarks. To get the web page into your reading list you will see that there is a button to the left of the URL bar, tap on that and you will see a number of options including, Add Bookmark, add to Reading List, Add to Home Screen, Mail Link to this page, Tweet and Print. You see an example there are about how Twitter is also integrated into Safari.

Safari on iOS 5 gets the rubbish out of the way

Safari iOS 5

Reader – get rid of all the clutter and the distractions from the webpage and allows you to just read the contents. The content is not just text, but also any pictures that are part of the webpage. Considering that there are so many websites now, that are kind of messy, with all sorts of things in the sidebars on both sides of the main part of the article, this will be a very useful addition to the Safari browser in iOS five.

Mail and Calendar Enhancements in iOS 5 and iCloud

In the new iOS 5 we are also getting updates to Mail and also to Calendar, nothing spectacular, but in Mail you will be able to do some text formatting. In Mail you will be able to drag to rearrange names in address fields and also add a flag to important messages. I didn’t know it wasn’t there before, but in iOS five it will also be possible to do a search which looks into the body of messages. The biggest change that is part of iCloud, that I’m sure many are looking forward to, is the free e-mail account and that will allow you to keep up-to-date easier on all of your devices. I use Gmail at the moment for that, probably I will start to use the e-mail account that comes with iCloud. I will just do a forwarding from my Gmail accounts to my new iCloud e-mail address.

The Calendar application will also be working in conjunction with iCloud, it will be good to keep all of that sort of thing in one place. The application now has added a year view for us iPad users. The week view is going to be a new thing for the iPhone and iPod Touch user’s.

Mail and calendar 2

MobileMe vs iCloud

In the past I was using MobileMe for dealing with my e-mail, contacts and calendar events and I was really pleased with it. I only stopped using it because I was on an economy drive and saving the $99 per year, made sense at the time. To replace what MobileMe gave me I’d tried using Google services. The Google e-mail service is brilliant and did a great job of replacing MobileMe e-mail. It was not quite so good for keeping up-to-date the contacts in my address book or for synchronising the events in my calendars. It was okay if I wanted to always go back to the Google website to get the information, but I do like to also use the calendar application in my Mac and on my iPhone.

Today I was listening to the Mac Break Weekly podcast, in it, the presenters were talking about iCloud. It was mentioned that there is somebody working on a book about iCloud and is having difficulties in writing the book, because of iCloud not being fully working. This is on the day before iCloud is due to be released to the world and you would have to wonder what sort of problems there will be for the normal users today. The presenters on the podcast seem to think that it is likely some parts of iCloud will not be fully functional on day one, but will be working better as time goes by. Mainly this was to do with third-party applications and the ability of the developers to use the new things available with iCloud, such as the document synchronisation.

So, in the past you have been using Scrivener for your writing application, then you may start to use pages instead, so that you can take advantage of the iCloud document updating. It will be extremely useful to be able to work on a document on one device, perhaps on your iPad, at the coffee shop, then to return home and not have to think about copying or moving files from the iPad, to continue working on the same document on the Mac.

Shooting Photos with the iOS 5 Camera App

Jumping the gun with iOS 5 and iCloud

I made a start to the day, thinking that the date today was 12th of October, naturally I was a little excited at the thought of getting my hands on the latest operating system for iDevices, the iPhone, the iPad and also the iPod touch. I should have actually looked at the calendar first, because it is actually only the 11th of October. No problem really as the articles as I have already written today and the rest of about iOS 5 and iCloud, will be more than just timely ready for tomorrow. In my defence I would say that I am not 100% today as I am suffering with a stomach bug. I blame the visit to IKEA yesterday, seeing as my wife had a similar problem, although hers started yesterday on the way home from the shop.

In any case I am still looking forward to the debut of iOS five and iCloud, the only difference being that I will be enjoying it one day later. So what else am I looking forward to?

Improvements to the Camera app in iOS 5 for iPad and other iDevices

Apple have made changes to the camera app and mainly it is about the speed with which you can use the camera to capture that special moment. Far too often, you see something that you would like to take a photograph of, but by the time you have the iPhone or iPad out of your bag or pocket and ready, the moment has vanished. With iOS5, Apple have made changes so that, at the very least the camera will be ready much faster.

Better Still to Have the iPhone 4S and iOS 5 as a Pair.

Apple iPhone 4S

Of course it will help if you have a newer faster iPhone as well and I don’t at the moment. The new iPhone 4S does look very enticing, seeing as I am still using the iPhone 3G. Even buying an iPhone that is not the latest model, the iPhone 4 is still available at around about €120 cheaper, it’s another option that I am considering.

It is always great to have the latest, fastest and shiniest of the technology being pushed out to us geeky fan boys. I will just have to ask myself if the faster processor and the ability to use Siri, the talkative app, will be worth spending the extra money. The Camera is also 8 megapixels on the iPhone 4S instead of the old 5 megapixels.

Enjoy being able to take photos quicker

In the new features of the camera app, you can use the camera directly from the lock screen, no having to do a swipe first. There are gridlines to help line up your photograph, pinch to zoom gestures, single tap focus and exposure locks, all combining together. to help us get better iPad photos or iPhone photos. It will also make a lot of sense to have Photo Stream enabled within iCloud, so that the photographs automatically will be downloaded to all of our Apple devices. When Apple were demonstrating the iPhone 4S at the recent Apple Let’s Talk iPhone event, they did spend some time showing how much faster it is to take the initial photo and also subsequent photos using that device.

The iPad camera will always be a few steps behind the iPhone camera.

I am still hoping that with the iPad 3, whenever it comes out, we’ll have a better camera also. In terms of marketing the Apple iPhone and the iPad, it could be to the advantage of Apple to have a poorer camera available for the iPad. Give the iPad a camera, just so that they can say that there is one, but always leave the iPhone as a better camera device. This way we will always want to have both devices and will be prepared to spend the money for the extra megapixels.

Other Photo editing apps for iPad

IOS 5 photo app

On this website I have already talked about how the Photo application will be enhanced. Go now look at the iOS Photo application information and see what can be done with the better editing facilities. It may also be the case that there will be enough power in the new Photo application that we will need fewer photo enhancing apps, such as Fx Photo Studio HD, Adobe Photoshop Express for iPad, QQ image editor HD, or maybe you just want to be social with your photos with Instagram. Some of the photo editing softwares I have just mentioned, are free, so you might as well get them anyway.

More about iOS5 and iCloud – Reminders and Twitter

Still talking about 12th October iOS 5 and iCloud day, what else do we have? There is the new Newsstand application and for me it really doesn’t mean an awful lot as I am unlikely to partake of any of the magazines available. Although if I did see the Imagine FX magazine at a reasonable price available in Newsstand, then I could be tempted. Imagine FX magazine is a magazine about concept art, digital art and as an artist and ex-art teacher, I would find it very interesting. I have ordered that paper based magazine before, it is a UK magazine, but I live in Spain so it works out too expensive to get it sent here. Where Newsstand would be useful, would be if the price of the magazine in digital format, would be the same as, or hopefully a little bit less than the dead tree version. Now you’re talking!

The Amazing iPad

Another thing about the magazines and reading them on the iPad as iPad magazines, is the layout of the text and artwork. With HTML 5 you can make some really stunning HTML5 magazines, that have a lot more to offer than what you would see in paper format. You can have more interactivity, more multimedia, such as audio and video. Overall a magazine on the iPad does have the possibility of being a lot better than buying the magazine off-the-shelf at the newsagents. Perhaps even more so for me, considering all the magazines in the newsstands here tend to be in Spanish.

Don’t forget to do something or other – Reminders

Reminders iOS5

On my iPad I already have a mountain of to do applications, that I mostly don’t use, but they are there just in case I want to get organised. I have Wunderlist which I use on my Mac and which is simple enough for me to actually make use of here and there. I also have a Remember the Milk and I recently downloaded an application called Orchestra, which although is not a native iPad app, is useful enough to keep. In iOS 5 and iCloud Apple are bringing us an application called Reminders, let’s have a look and see what it can do for us.

What will be the most useful thing of this application, is the fact that it will be there, installed and ready to use. They do say that 90% of success comes from actually just being there, turning up. You won’t have to try out any number of Get Things Done type of applications, if you try Reminders and find that it does as much as you need.Using PhatPad you get lists with handwriting recognition included.

When you use the location-based features of reminders you will be else to tell the iPad or iPhone to give you instructions to pick up some bread or cheese, when you drive into the supermarket car parking space. It looks like the Reminders application will be good for making all sorts of clean ordered lists. It will be a simple case of making a list and adding items to that to-do list. Second part of the process, will be to set locations and or the time that you want to be reminded. Only thing then left to happen then, is to be able to see the notification in your alerts, that will just appear magically, when you’re near your destination.

An integrated twitter iOS 5 and iCloud

Apple iOS 5 Twitter integration

Having things integrated, with an iOS5 Twitter application having hooks into the operating system does make things easier and quicker. Instead of having to change from one of application you are in to open up a Twitter client you will be able to send a twitter message from whichever application you are using at the time. How cool is that then? You could be looking at a web page in Safari, and have the sudden urge to share that page with a friend or two on Twitter. No problem, and the same goes for when you’re using photos, camera, YouTube and maps.

In our contacts list we will be able to have the Twitter username within the contact details. When you start typing the name of one of your contacts, the integration will help you do the mention or reply. I expect that the application will cover the basic and main points of using Twitter and for some power user requirements, you will still open up a Twitter client.

There are more things that iOS 5 and iCloud will give us, when we get it tomorrow. As you can tell I am getting impatient and I can’t wait much longer to get my hands on the new iDevice operating system for the iPad, iOS 5 for iPad and iCloud for iPad. I can tell you that I will be doing some serious playing, I mean testing, of the new and improved system that is iOS five.

iCloud iPad, iPhone and the Mac and the iCloud Release Date

iCloud Release Date And What It Means To iCloud iPad

On October 4th, 2011 Apple had their iPhone – Let’s Talk iPhone event. Apart from announcing the introduction of the iPhone 4S there was a lot of talk about iCloud. Apple also announced the iCloud release date which is October 12th. There is not an iCloud iPad application, at least no mention has been made of one, so far. In terms of the way that we interact with our computer, managing our data and our documents, iCloud is going to be a significant improvement in the Apple computing universe.

The Amazing iPad

Integration of everything Apple with iCloud iPad facilities

It’s not just about being able to buy something from Apple on the iTunes Store, on your iPad and have the item automatically downloaded to your other Apple devices, for instance your iPhone and your iMac computer. It’s not just the fact that when you start a project, for example within the Pages application, and that you will be able to go to your other Apple devices and continue on from wherever you got to within the project. It isn’t even the Marauders Map (Harry Potter reference) that is the application which is called Find My Friend. It isn’t the opportunity to capture a photograph, here on your iPad, and find that it is also waiting for you there on your iPhone. What is so good about it is that you always have all of your documents available to you, wherever you are, and whichever device you’re using. What makes it all so good, is the integration of the applications, your documents, availability of those documents and how it all fits in with your lifestyle.

Apple iCloud release date

The iCloud release date is the same as IOS 5

I must admit, that I’m really looking forward to having an e-mail address that is going be free to me with iCloud. I am also looking forward to the fact, that I will be able to get away from using Google for my address book syncing and calendar syncing, as this will be part of the iCloud iPad experience. I did used to have a MobileMe account, despite the fact that some people complained about it, I found it very useful. I only stopped using it as part of an economy drive. I have attempted to use Google to do the same things as I did with MobileMe, but it was difficult to setup in the first place and I don’t think it was successful overall.

I’m looking forward to the way that iCloud will do it all for me, with iCloud iPad capabilities and the same thing happening on my iMac and iPhone. iCloud will be automatically storing my content, wherever I created it and pushing it out to my other devices. We still have to see exactly how this is all going to work, but I expect Apple to make it simple to use and simple to set up. Getting 5 GB of free storage is a good bonus which is part of iCloud. Good thing about it is that the Photo Stream, that is the capability where the photos are pushed automatically to all of your devices, is not counted as part of that 5 GB. Of course, we can expect Apple to make it easy to purchase more storage if we need it. That free storage that we get from iCloud iPad, is there to store mail, documents, account information, settings and other application data.

ICloud logo

Knowing what to do and when iCloud iPad calendar

Whenever I make a change in my calendar on the iPad I’ll build to see that change also be updated within iCal on my Mac. Also if I shared that calendar out, perhaps to my wife, then the change will also be shown in that calendar on my wife’s Apple device. That iCloud iPad and other Apple devices, service will be fairly handy if you want to let other people know what your doing, or vice versa.

Synchronisation of iCloud iPad contacts

Something else that people have been complaining about, is the contacts application, whether that be the version that is in OS X Lion all the iCloud iPad iOS 5 version. What has happened is that Apple have made attempts to make the application look nice, with the fake leather stitching images as part of the application. One or two users seem to expect that if it is on a computer then it should just look more functional. The main thing is that when we are using iCloud is that the entire address book will be synchronised, without any input on our part to all of our Apple computers, iPad included.

iCloud release date for the marauders map

In the Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter got his hands on a marauders map. This was a special map that showed where everybody was, within Hogwarts, the school. Unlike the marauders map, Find My Friends will have some privacy features. The friends that you will see on the map will have given permission for you to see where they are. This feature that is part of iCloud iPad and iPhone will be excellent if you are having a meeting of a group of people. You will be able to see each other as you make your way to the location, where you are all meeting up. I expect that this will work much better on the iPhone than on the iPad, seeing as the iPhone has the GPS. One little feature that is very useful, is the fact that Find My Friends also works in conjunction with contacts and maps.

IPhone icons

Getting ready for some fun on iCloud release date

Sharing your location with a bunch of your friends, can be set up so that it is a temporary share. You can have it so that you are shared for one day or for a weekend. This would be very handy, if you are at an amusement park, where a group of people is quite likely to split up and want to be able to get back together again, perhaps to have lunch. I am looking forward to seeing this in use on iCloud release date 12th of October. I think that there will be many people using the services, that are part of the iCloud iPad and iPhone capabilities and having a lot of fun while doing so.

Splashing in the photo stream and iCloud – a release date

There will be a special Photo Stream album, that will hold the last 1000 photographs that you have taken. You won’t be able to edit or delete any photos from the photo stream, what you will do is to save a photo that you want to work with or keep permanently, into your Camera Roll. iCloud will be storing those photos for up to thirty days, and that should be plenty of time for you to connect your iPad with camera or iPhone, to your main computer.

We will be able to turn on Photo Stream within iPhoto or Aperture, what this will do is to keep a complete set of our photographs on our Mac. This will have the effect of automatically importing every picture in the photo stream into the photo library. This is another example, of how the way we do things, are being affected, by the technology and software combination that is being provided to us by Apple. It is easy to see why this ease-of-use is appealing to many computer users, that are turning in droves to be a part of the Apple universe. iCloud download available on the iOS5 and  iCloud release date of 12th October 2011.

Using the Air Video iPad Solution for Streaming Your Videos to Your iPad

Watching videos on your iPad using air video iPad

There are two parts to the solution, for getting your videos off your Mac or your Windows computer. You can download the air video app from the iPad application store within iTunes which costs €3.39, but you also need to go to the website of Air video and download the airvideo server part of the equation. So what happens is, is that the server pushes out the video and the application that is on the iPad, takes in your video and plays it. It is not necessary to do any conversion of video to make it iPad compatible. It is very simple, start the server version of Air Video on your Mac or Windows computer and then open the Air Video iPad application to choose your movie. Use Air Video to convert movies to iPad format.

The Amazing iPad

It is a simple download to get the Air Video iPad server. I would recommend that to get to the website to download the Air Video server software, that you first go to the App Store and click on the link to get to the developer’s website. You can also do a search in your browser to find the site that you need, but just in case there are bad sites out there, then why not use a link that you can be sure of to get the Airvideo server.

When you first open up the Air Video Mac server, it will open up the preferences for the application. It will also put an icon in your menu bar, so that you can access the application that way also. In the preferences the first thing to do is to set up some shared folders. So if you click on the Add Folder button you will get a dialogue which allows you to add a folder in which you have some movies. It is quite likely that the first folder to add will be the movies folder, which is in your user home folder. If you have more places in which you have movies stored, you can add more folders to the list.

Using AirVideo iPad to Convert Movies

The Air Video server will also convert video to iPad for you. When you click on the tab in the preferences, it will just tell you if there are any files being converted. You can have a file conversion started from Air Video iPad, iPod Touch or the iPhone.

Air Video iPad

The next tab in there in Air Video Mac, is for the settings of the server software. You can set it to start at login, ask you for a password and to listen on a custom port. Personally I prefer to not have it start at login, but maybe you will spend more time watching videos, that you will stream to Air Video iPad from your main computer. You will be wanting to have it more available to use.

The next tab is called Remote and that is for you to enable access from the Internet. That facility is a beta facility at the moment and I think I may wait until it is fully implemented. The next tab along is for subtitles, when you are able to choose the font for the subtitle, and your preferred languages. One more tab available in the settings is called Logs. Most likely, the only time that you will want to look at the logs for the conversions and whatever else it registers, will be if you have some problems.

Getting to use Air Video iPad to watch a movie

So you have your server running and you have opened up the Air Video iPad application on your iPad. On the left-hand side of the screen you will see, not much actually. What you need to do first is to tap on the plus icon to set up your server. I clicked on the name of my computer in the left-hand panel. I clicked on the name of the folder that I have shared, from within the server preferences and I got a list of movies that I could watch.

In Air Video iPad, when you tap on a movie that you would like to view, the right-hand side of the application shows you some details about the movie you have chosen. At the top is the name of the file, followed by the resolution, that is the pixel size of the video, the duration of the video and the file size.

AirVideo2

In the bottom section of that right-hand side, there are four buttons, Play, Convert, Add to iTunes and Play with Live Conversion. With the file that I had chosen in Air Video iPad, I pressed the play button and it did just that. It played the movie within the right-hand section of the Air Video iPad application. I did the same with, Play with Live Conversion and once again, the video started playing.

When the video is playing within the Air Video iPad app, you have the various controls available to you, such as the pause button and the slider which shows how far you are through the video. And over on the right hand side of that area, there is a button you can tap to make it go full-screen.

When you tap the Add to iTunes button, you get a pop-up window which gives you the opportunity to say where you want the video to be saved within iTunes. Just tap on the library you want to use for your video, and it moves out of the way, job done.

Looking at the settings within Air Video iPad

Air Video iPad

In the top right-hand corner of the Air Video iPad application, you will see two buttons one of which is called Global Settings. Give a tap to this button and you will save the settings, that are available to the application. When I first opened the global settings, it showed me a max width of 800 pixels and a max height of 720 pixels. Seeing as the size of the iPad screen is 1024 x 720 pixels then I changed the max width to 1024. I left the slider which determines the quality for off-line conversion at the 70% setting. The next setting, is to have it set to always play videos full-screen, I switched that to on.

The next section in the allowed bit rates for life conversion you have three areas to make changes if you wish. I suggest it is probably a good idea to go with the default settings, unless there is some reason why you need to change it. You can make changes for how it works over local Wi-Fi, remote Wi-Fi and over 3G. Tap on the button, Hide, when you have made all of your changes.

The button that is in the top right-hand corner, next to the global settings is the Queue. Tap on that button if you want to see the videos that are queued for conversion. In that dialogue, you are also able to edit the queue and to stop the current version if you need to.

Getting the best use out of Air Video iPad

When you choose a video that is not in a native format for the iPad, such as an AVI file, the options in the lower part of the screen underneath the movie in the Air Video iPad app, are different. In this case the options as you get are just play with live conversion and convert. If you tap the button play with live conversion, basically what it does is to stream the video to your iPad, so that you can watch it even though it is in a format that would not normally play on the iPad. The other option is to tap on the Convert button, and you get a small dialogue asking you to select the destination folder. All I’m getting at present is, current folder. Next you will see a message which tells you that the video was successfully added to the conversion queue. All that is left to do then, is to tap on the button, Continue.

AirVideo for iPad

What do I think about the air video iPad application?

To start with, we have to say that that the price is excellent. But then it is no good having a small price for an application and a useless app that doesn’t do what it is supposed to do. In this case though with Air Video iPad, I have to say that the Air Video application is absolutely marvellous.

Using Air Video iPad, you will be able to watch your videos on the iPad easily, streaming from your computer without you having to do any copying files to iPad. This is a great time saver and also it is very good if you have a smaller amount of internal memory in your iPad. It saves you having to fill up your iPad with large files of video.

Aside from the fact that Air Video iPad is a video streaming application, it is also great to be able to convert video to iPad format. You can be sure that by using this Air Video Mac and iPad application your video will be converted, perfectly to work on the iPad. You can use this application to convert your videos ready to play on the iPad, to save having to mess with the Handbrake presets in that application.

Stylus Decisions – iPad Stylus Reviews For More Information

Using iPad Stylus Reviews To Decide Upon Which Stylus To Buy

After reading a few of the iPad stylus reviews, it was time to go out and buy one for myself. There are a variety of iPad stylus available and some of them are quite informative about how you might use an iPad stylus. You may also find it useful to have a look at the iPad stylus reviews, that are more concerned with how you might make your own iPad stylus.

The Amazing iPad

iPad Stylus Reviews Confound Of The Designers

41BDHtZtDML AA300

To use a stylus with the Amazing iPad, it’s not really what Steve jobs had in mind when the iPad was designed. In fact the stylus that Steve Jobs had in mind for us to use, was the finger. The good thing about using the finger of course, is that you don’t have to worry about carrying around another device or tool to be able the use your Apple tablet.

Despite what the designers of the Apple iPad thought, you will find in the iPad stylus reviews that there are some instances where a stylus is a great idea. One such case would be if you are an artist and using applications such as Art Studio to create some digital painting and drawing art. I can confirm that this is the case because I do have Art Studio, and it is much easier to use with a stylus.

When your using the pencil tool or the brush tools in ArtStudio with a stylus, you will soon see that you have much better control over the drawing. You won’t need the iPad stylus reviews to tell you that you will be able to do better digital art by using a stylus. It feels much more like you have a pen or a brush in your hand, and so, much more mimics the old way of doing things.

Handwriting Recognition In The iPad Stylus Reviews

As you’ll also find in the iPad stylus reviews, they have said that having a stylus is the best way to use one of the handwriting recognition applications, such as Phatpad. We are more used to be able to write using a pen, after having spent many years using the old analog device. It is therefore only natural that when we want to write something, having in our hand a tool that is something like a pen, is more comfortable and therefore more effective. In my iPad stylus reviews, for the Boxwave stylus and the Targus stylus, you will see what it is like to be able to use one of these tools. It is actually quite easy to use the handwriting recognition software Phatpad, although you do have to be quite careful in the way that you write your letters. My handwriting is fairly terrible, but Phatpad has been able to convert it into editable text.

The price of a stylus is not very high, even when you buy a quality one like the Boxwave iPad stylus or the Targus stylus, so it is not going to be too expensive to buy one to try out. You could get yourself a stylus and do your own iPad pen review. Lately I have been using the Targus stylus and I am very pleased with it in terms of build quality and usability. The body of the stylus is made of metal and the end of it, the bit you write with is a kind of soft rubber button. I was kind of worried that having a metal pen in close proximity to the iPad would lead to scratches on the glass. After using the Targus stylus for a while, I find that in use it is unlikely to scratch the iPad.

Not the Same As Using a Wacom Tablet

In the iPad stylus reviews you are likely also to be able to find out, which of the stylus designs will give you the best fine point to draw with, or to write with. To a certain extent you don’t need to worry about having a fine point on the actual stylus, as the software will determine the width of the line that you draw. Neither does it matter, how hard you press with the stylus, as it does not work in the same way as the Wacom drawing tablets, which have the pressure sensitive abilities.

So far I am only using it on my main computer, but I can also use it on my iPad, when I get around to setting it up. It wasn’t too difficult to set up, a little bit geeky, but I was able to contact one of their operatives, to get some help.
